David Smelyansky - General Producer of the "Et Cetera" Theatre

Honoured Art Worker of the RF, Professor the Russian Academy of Theatrical Art (RATI), the First Laureate of Dyagilev Award “For Regeneration and Affirmation of the Producer’s Profession in New Russia” (2003), President of the Association of Theatrical Producers of Russia (1997-2000), Member of the Board for Theatrical Creation of the Council at the President of the RF for Culture and Art (1998-2000), General Director of Russian State Theatrical Agency (was established in 1992).

During the years of professional activity D.Ya. Smelyansky has implemented more than 60 projects. In different years his partners were: State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, MHAT named after A.P.Chekhov, Moscow Theatre “Lenkom”, Moscow Theatre “Et Cetera” directed by A.Kalyagin and other theatrical and concert organizations.

“Dyagilev of our days” – so he was called by Mstislav Rostropovich. Smelyansky worked with outstanding notables of culture of Russia as: Arkadiy Raykin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Galina Vishnevskaya, Yuri Temirkanov, Andrey Konchalovsky, Robert Sturua, Gleb Panfilov and others.

He has many theatrical performances which became the events of cultural life of the country. Among major projects are: Grand musical action “Our Old Capital” on the Red Square in Moscow, which does not have analogues in the world and is dedicated to the 850 anniversary of Moscow ( director Andron Konchalovsky).
