Alexander Kalyagin - Artistic Director of the “Et Сetera” Theatre

Kalyagin – is one of the greatest actors of contemporary Russian theatre and cinema.

He began his career in the Theatre on Taganka, then for 30 years he has been working for MHAT. In 1992 he created “Et Cetera” theatre with his students.

Kalyagin worked with famous Russian stage directors: O.N.Efremov, A.V.Efros, Yu.P.Lyubimov, K.M.Ginkas, P.N.Fomenko and others.

His cinema career was also brilliant. He screened in films of Abram Room, Mikhail Shveytser, Nikita Mikhalkov and many other well-known Russian producers.

The role of Chekhov’s Platonov in Nikita Mikhalkov film “Unfinished Piece for Mechanical Piano” won him glory and recognition not only in the USSR and abroad as well.

Alexander Kalyagin – is a wonderful theatrical teacher, in 1990 he brought out a talented course in MHAT School-Studio, then he taught in International School of Theatrical Art named after A.Chekhov (Zurich, Switzerland, 1989-1991), British and American School of Dramatic Art (Oxford, England; 1990-1993) and Chekhov School of Theatrical Art (Paris, France; 1992-1995).

Alexander Kalyagin reported about himself as theatrical stage director in performances: “Chekhov. Act III” in “Panter” theatre (Paris, France) and “State Inspector” by N.Gogol in “Eldred” theatre (Cleveland, USA), the performance “We, the Undersigned” put on stage in Ankara was awarded the highest theatrical premium of Turkey – Anni Dilligil Award.

Being the Art Director he stage-manages performances and plays a lot. His several theatrical works of the latest years were marked with prestigious theatrical awards.
